Karrick Patent Set (Seven US Patent Drawings in the KLTCUSP Capture)

What this is

The karrick2/kltcusp.htm capture reproduces eight GIF images, seven of which are named with bare seven-digit numbers. In this archive's convention, such filenames denote US patent numbers, and the images are the corresponding patent drawings. This page consolidates those seven references into a single record rather than creating seven thin stubs, because the capture supplies drawings only — no titles, inventors, dates or claims.

The set

A separate image, xfig1.gif, is not numbered and is not part of this set; its subject is not identified in the capture.

What is known and what is not

Known from the capture: the seven filenames and the fact that the page presents them as figures in a low-temperature-carbonization dossier.

Known from the capture: the patent number, title and grant date of each entry (for example, US1,832,219 "Process & Apparatus for Superheating Steam," Nov. 17, 1931; US2,283,556 "Valve," May 19, 1942).

Not known from the capture: the named inventor or assignee, the filing date, the claims, and whether the patents belong to Lewis Cass Karrick personally, to the US Bureau of Mines, or to unrelated parties working in the same field. The grant dates (1931–1942) are consistent with the era of Karrick's Bureau of Mines work, but consistency is not attribution.

Why the set matters

The set is the unique contribution of this capture to the wiki's Karrick material. Earlier captures supplied the process narrative and a separate image set (Karrick Dossier Figures: Captioned Schematics and Uncaptioned Images); this one supplies a patent-number index. That index is useful as a pointer to primary documents — but only if the patent texts are retrieved and read. Until then, the set documents that drawings exist, not that a process worked.

Caveats

A patent drawing records a claimed configuration. It is not evidence of construction, operation, yield or commercial viability.
