Capacitor-Energy Output Measurement

Capacitor-energy measurement is one of two competing methods proposed in the OtherPower.com forum thread reproduced in the source archive Bedini dossier for testing the output of a Bedini Motor/Generator/Charger.

The method

The thread's initiator, finsawyer, proposes measuring the energy delivered to a capacitor using the standard capacitor-energy formulas:

  • E = ½CV²
  • E = ½C(Vmax² − Vmin²)

The second form accounts for a capacitor that starts at a non-zero voltage.

The competing position

GeoM argues that only real-power draw from the receiving battery versus primary discharge counts, and that the capacitor is the only energy route to the receiving battery — so the capacitor method and the real-power method should agree if the measurement is done correctly. Why it matters

The dossier's central measurement problem is that the claimed effect is asserted to be invisible to ordinary power meters. If that is true, only a full energy balance can test it. The forum thread is the dossier's clearest attempt to specify such a test, but no participant actually performs one.
