Biological transmutation, or biotransmutation, is the claim that living systems — in this dossier, growing microbiological cultures — can transform one chemical element or isotope into another through low-energy nuclear reactions. The claim is a branch of low-energy-nuclear-reactions and is conceptually related to the historical low-energy-transmutation-of-elements research of the early 20th century.
The claim in this source
The Vysotskii–Kornilova dossier asserts that during the growth and metabolism of microbiological cultures, nuclear reactions occur that transmute isotopes. Two categories are named:
- Stable-isotope transmutation — for example, Mn55 + d = Fe57, Na23 + p31 = Fe54, and Cs133 + p = Ba134, as listed in the 2022 Vid. Proc. Adv. Mater. report.
- Accelerated deactivation of radioactive isotopes — chiefly Cs137 + p = Ba138, converting radioactive Cs-137 to stable Ba-138.
The source states that transmutation in microbiological associations is 20× more effective than in pure ("one-line") cultures, and that the Cs-137 → Ba-138 reaction is accelerated 35× (2000–2015) and later 103× (2016–2021) relative to natural decay. Proposed mechanism
The 2022 report attributes the effect to coherent correlated states of interacting nuclear isotopes, with giant energy fluctuations generated in non-stationary potential biological nano-wells. See Coherent Correlated States of Interacting Nuclei.
Lineage
The dossier's related links point to the source page on Louis Kervran, whose mid-20th-century claims of biological transmutation (for example, that hens convert potassium to calcium) are the conceptual ancestor of this line of work. The source does not develop the connection in detail.
Evidence status
The dossier is a self-collected archive of the claimants' own publications, patents and interviews, plus two third-party commentary pieces (Biberian's Current Science review and Schapiro's article). No independent replication is reported. The Cs/Sr joint-transmutation paper records a control-contamination caveat that complicates attribution of the observed effect.
