A place for peculiar ideas.

Six books, one reading room

Six books bring together metals, plant form, flowing water and the idea of formative forces. Their shared vocabulary makes them interesting to read together; it does not establish a single theory or a common experimental result.

Read the books

Follow the argument

Separate what is observed, how it is represented, and what is inferred. A plant drawing, a description of a metal and an image of a vortex are different records. A proposed planetary or formative explanation adds another step, which needs its own argument and evidence.

For experiments, look for materials, conditions, controls and repeated results. For historical or philosophical claims, follow the author’s definitions and examples. The guides explain the accessible texts in original prose; the books themselves are not reproduced here.
