Ravatin in His Own Words: The 1978 Psi International Interview on Pendulums, 'States', Taofel Fields and Altered Constants

Ravatin's patents present "emissions due to shapes" in the dry language of a technical specification. This interview shows the framework he placed around them. It is a long question-and-answer piece by the reporter Joël André, first published in Revue Psi International No. 7 (October–December 1978). It was later reposted on a document-sharing site with a short preface dated 28 May 2011, after Ravatin's death in March of that year. In it Ravatin says how his group detected form emissions, how it classified them, and what it claimed to have achieved with them. The interview describes effects closely resembling those claimed in EP0016079, and Ravatin presents them as products of his pendulum-based programme. It also adds claims the patents never make, including health claims.

Provenance and framing

The copy comes from a file-sharing host and names an uploader, not a publisher, so it is a secondary reproduction of a magazine article. The 2011 preface says Ravatin carried on his work through his foundation Ark'All and sometimes published under the pseudonym Vladimir Rosgnilk. The preface is cautious, noting that his theses still await verification by a wider community of researchers.

The 1978 introduction gives Ravatin's credentials. It says he held a doctorate in mathematical physics, taught that subject at the University of Amiens, and had worked as a chemical engineer at the CNRS. Ravatin dates his thesis to 1965 and says the jury was chaired by a Professor Depommier. The introduction also says theses and patents were multiplying around the Ark'All group and that private industry was supporting it. The interview gives no names, numbers or documents for either claim. The journalist describes himself as unable to judge: either the claims are correct, or they reflect an overexcited enthusiasm for which the author alone is answerable.

How the emissions are said to be detected

Every detection in the interview is made with a pendulum. Ravatin places himself in the French radiesthesia (dowsing) tradition, but he breaks with its usual reading. Earlier dowsers spoke of ondes de forme (shape waves), as if the effect were an unexplored corner of the electromagnetic spectrum. Ravatin says the emissions are not waves and do not belong to the physical universe at all, which is why he prefers "emissions due to shapes".

He describes two main techniques:

  • Colour-witness dowsing. The dowser holds a piece of coloured cloth and swings a pendulum over a wooden sphere. Where the pendulum begins to rotate, that point is labelled as emitting the "colour", signed plus or minus by the direction of rotation (V+ and V- for green, for example).
  • "Hebrew pendulums". In Ravatin's scheme these detect what he calls States. They are cylinders engraved with Hebrew words such as "Earth", "Breath of Life" or "Spirit", which he says respond to physical, vital or psychic qualities. One state, written "K Sh Ph" and glossed as "Magic", is said to turn a normally beneficial emission harmful.

Why would a sceptic not accept this? The reading in each case is the movement of a hand-held pendulum, and the interview itself acknowledges the standard objection that this comes from imperceptible muscle movements. Ravatin's answer is an older pendulum design in which the thread is wound around a fixed cylinder, which he says rules out muscular action. As further safeguards he cites "compensators" for background influences and agreement among several independent dowsers. He describes no blinding, no scoring protocol and no instrument reading, so agreement between dowsers who may know what they are testing does not exclude expectation effects.

Taofel fields and the Sprink connection

In Ravatin's scheme, emissions are ranked into "Taofel fields". The lowest is the "Bélizal" field, whose effects he says appear only gradually, for example in plant growth. Above it is "Unité-Sprink". Ravatin says Sprink had built a device giving emissions of this level as early as 1934 without ever knowing what caused its effects, and that his group was asked to study it. He describes it as an octagonal wooden frame fitted with spark gaps, connected to a high-voltage supply and grounded, and says he rebuilt it as a 16-sided polygon at a much higher voltage. This is the interview's most direct link to Leon Sprink and to the apparatus claimed in EP0016079 / WO8000293 — Apparatus for Amplifying Emissions Due to Shapes. Ravatin also names higher fields, "Terre Promise" (which he associates with the Ark of the Covenant) and "Entité-Dieu", and speaks of "fractal objects" that he says lift an emission from one field to the next.

What is said to have been measured

According to Ravatin, the higher fields act directly on physical constants. At the Unité-Sprink level he lists changes to the components of the Earth's magnetic field, the gravitational constant, the refractive index of air and the solubility of sodium chloride. He states: "Nous avons par exemple réduit la constante de gravitation G d'un dixième de sa valeur" (we reduced the gravitational constant G by a tenth of its value). He also claims catalysis without a catalyst, polymerisation, mercury with a density of 15 instead of 13.6, shifted melting and boiling points, and the biological transmutations predicted by L. Kervran (see Biological Transmutation (Biotransmutation)).

These claims closely resemble those in the EP0016079 specification: a magnetic-variation shift, local gravitation at 0.9 times normal, a higher refractive index of air, and increased salt solubility. Ravatin presents such effects as results of his pendulum-based programme, but the interview does not show how, or whether, the patent claims were derived from it. Nor does it supply independent measurements for any of them. No apparatus for measuring G, no data and no third-party confirmation are described.

Health and environmental assertions

Ravatin claims that treated waters and oils speed up the proliferation of living cells, that a treated honey outperforms royal jelly, and that his group could diagnose cancer two years before it became detectable. He also claims that high-voltage lines emit a harmful "V-E" emission over 150–500 m at 200,000 volts, and that nuclear plants affect a 50 km radius. These are assertions made in the interview. No clinical or controlled evidence is offered for the treated-oil and honey claims or for the claim of diagnosing cancer two years early. Nothing in the text documents any of them, and none should be read as health guidance.

What the document does and does not establish

The text purports to record Ravatin's statements in 1978, but it survives as a repost with a 2011 preface and an uploader rather than a publisher, so its fidelity to the printed magazine is unverified. Taken at face value, it shows Ravatin describing patent-like effects and attributing them to a dowsing-based classification of emissions; it does not show that the patent claims rest on that classification. The interview also ranges well beyond the patents, into UFOs and other fringe topics. Ravatin stresses the danger of the work, saying de Bélizal's collaborator Chaumery died from careless use of form emissions and that the higher Taofel fields are far more dangerous. The document establishes no experimental result. For the patent-side record, see Ravatin Claims vs. Evidence: Form Emissions, Fuel Reduction, Patent Drawings and the Absence of Independent Validation and Form Emissions (Emissions Due to Shapes).
