The dossier's press material describes him as an associate chief orthopedic surgeon at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University, in Zhejiang Province, China.
Role in the dossier
The press items reproduced in the dossier attribute two things to Lin:
- The origin observation. In 2016, while still a resident physician, he is said to have observed that even the most experienced surgeons needed hours in the operating room to fix shattered bone fragments, with results "often far from ideal."
- The inspiration. He is said to have found the idea for a bone glue after watching oysters cling firmly to a bridge underwater, prompting the concept of an adhesive that works in the body's moist environment.
He is quoted in the Global Times item as saying the adhesive can achieve precise fixation within two to three minutes even in a blood-rich environment.
Attribution caution
The dossier does not state that Lin is the inventor or assignee of any specific patent in the portfolio it collects, nor that Bone-02 is covered by any listed patent.
