Self-Interruption (Selbstunterbrechung)

Self-interruption (Selbstunterbrechung) is the basic-diagram condition of Hans Coler's apparatus as described in BIOS Final Report No. 1043. In this condition, plate discharge interrupts the battery current in the field circuit, which in turn interrupts the directing circuit, recharging the plates cyclically.

Role in the claimed mechanism

Self-interruption is the timing element of the Anchor–Field–Directing Circuit Triad cycle. The report's mechanism picture depends on the interruption sequence repeating so that an "additional quantity of energy" of unknown origin is freed each cycle, raising the amplitude until the magnet cores saturate.

Assessment in the source

The report's own experiments did not confirm the sub-effects on which this cycle depends, and the team concluded that earlier successes were due to "chance, or happy accident." The condition is described in the report but not demonstrated to produce a net energy gain.
