"Properties of time" is the titular subject of N. A. Kozyrev's September 1967 paper (JPRS report #45238). Kozyrev's central proposal is that time is not merely a scalar "duration" or a coordinate-like interval, but an active, directional physical agent that possesses energy and a rotation moment.
The claim
Kozyrev argues that exact science has reduced time to a spatial-like interval in Minkowski four-space, which leaves mechanics time-symmetric: the equations cannot distinguish a cause from an effect. He proposes to restore that distinction by treating time as having a quality — a "pattern" or directivity — that separates causes from effects. From this he derives a pseudo-scalar constant C₂, additional forces along the axis of a rotating body, and a family of predicted effects on balances, pendulums, torsion balances, electric currents and heat flows.
Reported properties
- Directivity. Time has an objective direction; past and future differ physically. See Time Directivity.
- Energy and rotation moment. Time is said to possess energy and a rotation moment, but not momentum.
- Pseudo-scalar pattern. The time pattern is described by the pseudo-scalar C₂, which changes sign under mirror reflection. See Time Pattern as a Pseudo-Scalar (C₂) and Kozyrev C₂ Constant.
- Variable density or intensity. Kozyrev claims time has a "density" or "intensity" that varies seasonally and with latitude. See Time Density or Intensity.
- Diverse qualities. In his third inference, Kozyrev asserts that time has diverse qualities open to experiment, and that knowledge should teach how to "affect" time.
Assessment
The source presents these as Kozyrev's own theoretical proposals and reported measurements. No independent replication appears in the paper, and the reported effect sizes are of the same order as plausible instrumental artifacts. See Kozyrev Claims vs. Evidence.
