The Stromzeuger ("generator") is one of two devices built by Hans Coler and described in BIOS Final Report No. 1043. It is a magnet, flat-coil and copper-plate arrangement with a battery-excited primary circuit.
Claimed performance
Coler claimed the Stromzeuger could give about 6 kW output indefinitely from a few watts of dry-battery input. No working example existed at the time of the 1946 report; Coler offered to build one, and the BIOS team recommended that the offer be taken up.
The 1926 tests
Prof. M. Kloss tested the Stromzeuger on 3 March 1926 and computed roughly 1.7 W in against roughly 8 W out — a ratio of about 4.7×. Prof. W. O. Schumann tested it on 19–20 March 1926 and computed ratios of about 6.7× (two bulbs) and about 4.85× (one bulb). Both could not explain the energy source. The 1946 experiments
The BIOS team's four laboratory experiments on the Coler & Frohlich apparatus largely failed to confirm the claimed sub-effects, and the 1943 report concludes that earlier successes were due to "chance, or happy accident." The BIOS team's own 1946 test of the Magnetstromapparat produced only millivolt-level, non-reproducible output.
Later claims and hypotheses
- Claus Wilhelm Turtur claims both Coler engines exceeded 100% efficiency and that demonstrations at Berlin, München, Trondheim and Kopenhagen confirmed more output than input.
- "Smudge" claims the Stromzeuger was based on the Norrby device and proposes a Corbino Effect / anomalous-hall-effect mechanism.
- WO1994001814A1 — Enhanced Transformer cites Coler's research as the origin of solid-state permanent-magnet generation.
Assessment in the source
The Stromzeuger is the subject of the largest claimed multiplication ratios in the dossier, and also of the strongest contradictions: the 1946 BIOS experiments did not confirm the 1926 and 1937 results, and the 1943 Coler & Frohlich statement records that the newly developed apparatus could not be made to work.
