Pulkovo Observatory

Pulkovo Observatory is the astronomical institution where N. A. Kozyrev conducted the experiments reported in his September 1967 paper "Possibility of Experimental Study of the Properties of Time," and the place from which the paper is signed ("Pulkovo, September 1967"). The laboratory work was carried out with engineer V. V. Nasonov.

Role in the reported experiments

  • Site of the gyroscope, pendulum, torsion-balance, electric-current and heat-flow experiments described in the paper.
  • Site of the latitude-dependent measurements: the paper reports tan L = 1.75, stated to match Pulkovo's latitude, and a vertical force component ΔQz/Q = 2.8 × 10⁻⁵ at Pulkovo.
  • The latitude agreement was reportedly reproduced at the higher-latitude site of Kirovsk.
