"Biological asymmetry and time" is the theme, in N. A. Kozyrev's September 1967 paper, that the chemical asymmetry of living matter is evidence for the objective directivity of time. Kozyrev cites Louis Pasteur's discovery of chemical asymmetry in protoplasm as support for his directivity axiom.
Extensions in the paper
- The theme is extended speculatively to instinct, telepathy and "psychics of man" as corollaries of a directional time.
- The claimed chiral shielding effect — sugar (right-handed molecules) shielding the torsion balance, turpentine (left-handed) "evidently" causing the opposite effect — is a chemical-chirality extension of the same asymmetry theme.
