R. Hurst

R. Hurst, M.Sci., of the British Ministry of Supply, was the author of BIOS Final Report No. 1043, the 1946 Allied interrogation report on Hans Coler's alleged new source of power. He conducted the interrogation and the on-site construction and testing of a small model of the Magnetstromapparat.

Role in the dossier

Hurst's report is the primary document in the dossier. His conclusions — that Coler was honest, that the observed result was genuine "in so far as could be tested," and that no explanation was attempted — frame the entire later reception layer. The phrase "chance, or happy accident" appears in the Coler/Frohlich report (Appendix IV), not in Hurst's own conclusions. He also noted that a claim of this kind would normally be considered fraudulent.
